Keep sessions short
One or two runs is a good session. Your board saves itself, so there is never a reason to finish a run in one sitting. Set a simple rule, such as “two runs, then stop”, and keep it.
Take real breaks
- Every twenty minutes, look at something far away for twenty seconds. It relaxes your eyes.
- Stand up and stretch between runs, especially if you play at a desk.
- Drink some water. Puzzles make it easy to forget.
Mind the clock at night
Bright screens late at night make it harder to fall asleep. Stop playing at least half an hour before bed, or turn on your phone's night mode. The puzzle will be exactly where you left it in the morning.
Play for the puzzle, not the number
Club Stars and levels are there to show your progress, nothing more. They cannot be exchanged for anything, so chasing them is never worth losing sleep, time with people or focus on work. If a bad run annoys you, that is the moment to put the phone down.
Notice the warning signs
Any game can become a habit that does not help you. Take a break for a few days if you notice that you:
- play much longer than you planned, again and again;
- feel restless or irritable when you cannot play;
- skip sleep, meals, work or time with family to keep playing.
If gaming of any kind is affecting your daily life, talk to someone you trust or a health professional. In India you can call the Tele-MANAS mental health helpline on 14416, free and available around the clock.
18 and over
The club is meant for adults. If a child uses your phone, keep the app off the home screen or use your phone's parental controls. More about how the club works is on the about page, and the board is always one tap away on the home page.
